A poster session is included in the programme. You can contribute directly to the conference by submitting a poster relevant to the conference, Horizons in Livestock Sciences.

Please note that for your poster to be acceptable for display at the conference, you must be a registered conference attendee. In addition you must submit an abstract as outlined below by 28 July 2008 (allowing time for abstracts to be reviewed, and notification of acceptance for inclusion in the Poster Session prior to the deadline for earlybird registration).
Guidelines for Preparing and Presenting Posters
1. Posters will be displayed on a free standing vertical board. The poster presentation dimensions should be 1.1m high x 1m wide (i.e. portrait style). Velcro will be provided to mount material on the board.
2. In preparing your poster, you should not attempt to detail your entire research history. Present only enough data to support conclusions or to explain the point(s) you wish to make. Data should be kept to a minimum in favour of diagrams and photographs. Aim to put across a simple message in an eye-catching manner.
3. All posters must have a title. If a short title that is different from the published full title is used, the published full title should be included as a subtitle in smaller type.
4. All text lettering should be large enough to be legible at a distance of 1.5m. Lettering used for titles should be 24 point size minimum (Arial or Times New Roman are good fonts to use). Large computer-generated and printed type is recommended for text and captions. Freehand lettering is not recommended except for last minute alterations. All text must be in English.
5. Photographs and diagrams should be large enough to be read at a distance of 1.5m.
6. You are expected to attend your poster during the Official Poster Presentation Session on Wednesday 29 October from 2 – 4pm to answer questions and discuss aspects of your presentation.
7. In addition to above, you are encouraged to attend your poster during the morning and afternoon tea breaks and lunches.
8. Contact details during and after the Conference should be included on the poster.
9. You will be allocated a poster panel number. These will also be published in the Conference handbook.
10. To maximise viewing time for all delegates, posters should be in place by no later than 10.00am on Tuesday 28 October.
- Set up times are between 3.00pm – 6.00pm on Monday 27 October and 8.30am – 10.00am Tuesday 28 October. All posters should remain in place for the duration of the conference.
- Posters can be dismantled after 1.30pm on Thursday 30 October and must be removed before 5.00pm. The Conference Organisers take no responsibility for posters left at the venue.
- Dedicated viewing times made available for delegates to view posters will be during the Poster Session, morning and afternoon teas and lunch breaks scheduled throughout the conference 3-day programme. These times are an opportunity for presenters to stand by their posters to provide feedback and answer any delegate questions. Please note no audiovisual facilities will be provided for the poster displays.
11. A poster prize for the best student poster will be judged during the Conference and awarded after the Conference.
